Deep in the green hills of Maremma, in the heart of Tuscany under a sky lit by stars, a Castle was constructed. Today, it has been rescued from ruin and transformed into an exclusive luxury retreat where you will feel the welcoming, comforting touch of the owners, Aurora and Carlo Baccheschi Berti. With a clear blue sky, you can perceive the sea in the far distance and the fresh salty sea breeze...

 The garden is an integral part of the whole restoration project and was designed with discipline and simplicity at heart. The roses, lavender, mulberry trees unite naturally with the olive grove, vineyard and woods. There are two pools with wonderful panoramic view, which are open from April to October. During summertime, you can dine outside, under the sky without equal, or in winter, in front of the fire to warm the soul. For guests who would like, we prepare meals. Menus are based on local recipes, using products from the Castle’s vegetable garden and wines from the vineyard or from the area. Vicarello produces its own biological olive oil and wine. Cooking lessons and wine tasting are available on request. The magnificent position of Vicarello makes it an ideal place for meetings offering total privacy. Service is highly personalized.  

Castello di Vicarello features four suites and one villa. All are equipped with highest standard, valuable furniture and objects gathered through years of travelling, all chosen to provide a feeling of harmony with the surroundings. Near the castle, you could walk into nature thanks to the Mediterranean wood surrounding or do horse riding. Under less than an hour drive, you can enjoy two golf course facilities and hunting is possible on request.  Vicarello is a place where you can stare forever into Tuscany’s green hills or its blue sky. Time stands still at this charming estate. Silence abounds. History lives on each path, in each stone, and every wall sings a song of an ancient past.

Description of the Suites

SUITE CHIESINA
This is a two-story suite, with fully equipped kitchen, living room, dining table, incredible panoramic terrace, pergola with benches and dining table, barbecue. The wooden floor is made with pear, cherry and olive wood is designed like a carpet. This suite is furnished in a XVIII century style.

I SASSI
A window on the world, from the living room you have a full window overlooking the Tuscan hills until the sea. Same view from the windows of the bathroom and the bedroom, very Mediterranean style, colorful walls, surrounded by the garden like a conservatory, it is an independent building, close to the travertine infinity pool. Its terrace is another incredible spot to relax and immerse into n nature. Incredible stay in all seasons!

 I SPRONE
Two levels suite, adjacent to Suite Giardino, which can be connected with this other Suite, as a result a wonderful family apartment. The bedroom is designed from the 50’s and 70’s and the living room features an old baldachin bed with a XVIII century table near a very modern fireplace. From the small windows a wonderful view of the gardens and of the hills, outdoor a pergola with roses, a mix of modern paintings and old furniture gives a great family touch to Villa I Sprone.

 IL GIARDINO SEGRETO
Very romantic Suite with its own private garden facing south, also in winter this corner is very pleasant and warm. It is a two level suite with wonderful furnishing, a baldachin bed in the bedroom; the living room features a terracotta stove, armchairs and a couch in old leather. From the little windows you see the breathtaking view and can enjoy a bath looking at the hillsides.

 LA GROTTA
This large double room is nested in the lower level of Villa Chiesina, it can be rented independently or as part of Villa Chiesina. The walls are made of stone and the furniture is in Italian venetian style.

 SUITE VICARIO
Wonderful suite of approximately 100 sqm with panoramic windows overlooking the Tuscan hills. The interiors are furnished with a mix of antiques and 70s Italian design pieces, great paintings on the walls. A XVI^th century fireplace in the living room with a fantastic colonial daybed in front, a kitchenette well equipped to make you own tea and coffee. Winter in this suite is magic!
