Each of the 62 exquisitely decorated rooms and suites is unique and has a touch of the past.  All rooms have been designed to meet individual needs, none of them is alike. Easy chairs, plump floral sofas, classic and design furniture, high ceilings, honey-colored parquet floors, unusual light objects and contemporary art transform each and every room to your personal livingroom.  The English-style Red Salon accommodates the bar was superb as well as a breakfast buffet, where you can relax next to the open fireplace. In the afternoon we serve complimentary tea and cake for our guests. It's our pleasure to arrange tickets for opera, theater and concert.

The hotel is located in the 7th Viennese district, the Spittelberg area, famous for its artistic flair and has been built in 1902 in the so-called ring-street style.  Originally the house used to be the palace of an industrial in the Austrian-Hungarian monarchy. He owned one of the biggest company for sanitary-products and used the palace as showroom for his products.  Over the years factory halls were built into the court of the house, which have been reconstructed into lofts.

The house is interesting in terms of Architecural history, since it was the first building in Vienna to be built in reinforced concrete ceilings. During the 1950s the house located a pension, during the years before the opening of the last Altstadt Vienna it was the home for emigrants from Russia, who received their visas for the United States, Canada or Israel.

In 1991 Otto E. Wiesenthal rebuilt the house into the Altstadt Vienna originally with 24 rooms and suites. Mr. Wiesenthal used to work as manager in the automobile industry, the computer business and in banks, and he always dreamed of having an own hotel which could house his huge collection of paintings.  During the last ten years the house has been enlarged with apartments and is today a meeting point for artists, musicians and individual travelers looking for a characteristic hotel with good service.

All rooms have private bath or shower/toilet, TV, radio, telephone, free wireless LAN, minibar and hair dryer.  All rooms are NON SMOKING and all double/single rooms are fully air conditioned.
