The Hotel Bellevue Syrene enjoys a superb and peaceful position on a promontory in the most picturesque corner of old Sorrento overlooking the Gulf of Naples on the Mediterranean Coast and few steps away from the city  centre. The former 18th century villa has recently completed a major renovation that preserves the antique style and historic recognition of the property.  An enchanting atmosphere prevails in all area of the hotel from the beautiful terraces with breathtaking views to the delightfully appointed internal salons and lounges featuring antique pieces combined with design furniture.

The Hotel rises from the foundations of a large Roman Villa which dates back to the II Century B.C. and owned by the Roman Emperors.  The Counts Mastrobuono, began the actual construction of today’s Villa in 1750 to be used for their summer vacations. In 1820 the Villa was turned into a small hotel. The 17th century frescos of the original Villa were restored along with other works by Ernesto and Giovanbattista De Curtis.  Between 1905 and 1907, William Waldorf Astor, captured by so much beauty and in reminiscence of the Roman Empire, built the “Villa Pompeiana”. This being almost an exact copy of the house of the Vetti  in Pompei.

The cuisine at the Bellevue Syrene offers a rich selection of dishes, with the accent on preparation to the finest local culinary tradition.  “Il Don Giovanni Restaurant” with its spacious interior and full length windows above the bay   or  the intimate  “Gli Archi Restaurant” are open in winter time.  During warm weather months guests can enjoy light fare or dining al fresco at the open-air ”La Pergola”, which in the evenings becomes a romantic piano bar, and, within the shade of a hundred year-old pine tree  on a lovely terrace, at the "Il Pino Restaurant".   A huge selection of wines, both Italians and internationals, are available from the cellar housed in a picturesque Roman grotto.  The “Villa Pompeiana”, with its terrace on the cliff top, is the ideal venue for receptions and gala dinners.  The colonnade and the period mosaics, the lights of the flaming torches mingling with those from the Bay of Naples create an atmosphere at once refined and inviting. The Club Lounge is available  to all guests for complimentary drinks & snacks from 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Points of Interest
Land of colours, mysteries, traditions and legends, Sorrento, since always, charms, amazes and inspires people to come or maybe even today it may be the Sirens, who according to the Greeks were living in this sea, to enchant with their singing and to bewitch visitors from all over the world making them fall in love and persuading them to return.  Many civilizations have "lived" Sorrento. The Etruscans and the Greeks and then the Romans, Bisanzio, the Longobardi, the Normanni and the Aragonesi and each one has left his mark:  there are the remains of the antique walls and of a temple that the Greeks had dedicated to the Goddess Atena on the promontory of Campanella; the antique Roman villas with fish ponds, nymphs, artificial wharfs outstretched almost as if to embrace the sea.  Between the monuments and the antique villas there are the “Basilica di S. Antonino” which dates back to the IX century, the Cloister of San Francesco which was built at the beginning of the 19th century, the wonderful remains of the “Villa Pollio Felice” and the “bagni della Regina Giovanna”.  Of much interest is the valuable collection of paintings of the 17th and 18th centuries and the examples of antique ceramics and inlaid woodwork, typical of this area, hosted at the “Museo Correale di Terranova”.
