The Hotel is set on a spur of rock in one of the most panoramic settings of Sorrento where at one time there was a " Tonnara" from which the hotel takes its name, "La Tonnarella" is an oasis of peace and tranquillity for those who wish to sample a corner of paradise. The Hotel takes its name from the typical net used for fishing the smallest species of the tunas family. The net was called "Tonnarella".The net is nowadays still in use in the autumnal months. On the mountain edge existed one small tower called "Guardiola", today transformed in lookout, used anciently for the control of the nets of the "Tonnarella".

"La Tonnarella" started out as a residential summer villa belonging to the Gargiulo family. Still keeping its fascinating atmosphere with antique furnishing and ceramic tiles plus the interesting architectural style of interwoven tufa stone cornices, " La Tonnarella" has been transformed into a delightful hotel with a backdrop of blue sea.

The hotel has a small private beach with facilities. Hidden among the rocks like a pearl in its shell, " La Tonnarella " beach is a magical and little known ravine- an explosion of colors and perfumes. The violet and yellow of the wild flowers offering a contrast to the blue of the sky and the sea. It is also possible to lunch at this beautiful place immersed in nature and only a few paces from the sea.

The renowned restaurant has got one big dining-room and a wide terrace on the sea that you can use to relish the refined and typical sirene land's dish as : Scialatielli with Lobsters, Risotto with lobster's and finocchietti, Orata with Sorrento's citrus fruits, shrimps in lemon leaf, calamari au gratin, lemon cake. The taste of the sea and the citrus mixed to the scent of the flowers that color rooms, the terraces and the garden.

Only a ten minute walk into town and the bus runs every twenty minutes and the bus stop is very close to the hotel. They have a tour agency that will organize tours for clients as well. All of the rooms have a private bath, air conditioning and direct phone. There is beach entry with chairs, sun beds and umbrellas for an extra charge. parking, service and all taxes are included in the rate. Wi-Fi zones are available for personal computers as well.

Client Comments

"Hotel Tonnarella was lovely!! We fell in love with Sorrento. The view from our room was INCREDIBLE. Our terrace was huge!! When we walked out onto the terrace we couldn't even believe that we had it all to ourselves- we thought it was the hotel terrace. The terrace was complete with sun beds, a cute table with chairs and both a lemon and lime tree. We even got to go down to the private beach and swim in the Bay of Naples. The hotel restaurant/reception area was gorgeous. I don't even know how to put it into words. They had a nice balcony and huge windows spanning the whole place!! (All gorgeous views...of course!) Also it was super easy to connect to their wi-fi to check email real quick via the iphone. Also, the included breakfast was delicious!! We were within a nice 10-15 minute walk from the town- which had beautiful views the whole way down. All the shops were so fun...and we were an easy train ride from Naples..and we were able to make it to Pompeii as well using the train. (Circumvesuviana) And...we took a boat trip to Capri- which was fabulous!!!"
