Villa Alberto

Central Tuscany, Chianti, and Siena, Italy

Nestled in the heart of the world-famous Chianti Valley, just thirty minutes from Florence, stands Villa Alberto. This graceful country residence is located near the ancient town of Castelfiorentino on the Francigen Route, once the main thoroughfare from Rome to France. Villa Alberto is steeped in history. Its origins date back to the early years of the 13th century when a powerful Longobard clan from the Elsa Valley - the Conti Alberto - chose this perfect spot as the site for their castle, later converted into the elegant villa you can see today. The Conti Alberto family owned the property until the 17th century. Traces of the original 13th-century fort are still discernible in the square brick tower and the walls alongside the villa.
