Arriving by Air
There are a number of airports suitable for travelling to La Villa.
Genoa is the nearest airport and is about 60 minutes from the hotel.
Turin is just over an hour away from the hotel.
Milan Malpensa is approximately 90 minutes drive.
Milan Linate should only be 90 minutes, but weight of traffic on the Autostrada can add another 30 minutes to your journey.
Milan Bergamo is around 2 hours away
Nice (in France) and Pisa are both around 2 hours away.
Arrivng by Car
Although we are in the middle of the countryside, please make sure that you follow the directions below and you should arrive on our doorstep without any problems - its also advisable to print out a copy of this page and keeping it with your other travel documents.
La Villa Hotel is at Via Torino 7, CASALOTTO, which is a suburb of Mombaruzzo, and is in the province of Asti. Please do not put 'Mombaruzzo' in your GPS system as you will finish up about 5 kilometres away.
Our GPS co-ordinates are 44.76272 N, 8.41058 E (44°45'46.53" N, 8°24'40.66" E) and you can also apply these to Google Earth to get great driving directions.
In the vast majority of cases, you will arrive via the A26 motorway (autostrada) exit at Alessandria Sud. This is the easiest way, arriving from the North (Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate, Bergamo airports), the Italian Lakes, Switzerland and Milan and also arriving from Genoa and other points South (Tuscany, Cinque Terre, Portofino, etc). Otherwise, please see the directions below if you are arriving from the South (not by motorway) or from the East.
Via Michelin will always give very detailed directions from your point of departure to the hotel. Make sure that you put '14046 Casalotto' as the destination and Via Torino 7 as the address. For the main airports, the search criteria for each are as follows: Genova (Genoa) + Aeroporto Cristoforo Colombo; Milan Malpensa is 21019 Somma Lombardio + Aeroporto Malpensa 2000; Turin is 10072 Caselle Torinese + Via Aeroporto; Milan Linate is 20068 Peschiera Borromeo + Aeroporto di Milano-Linate; and, finally, Milan Bergamo is Orio al Serio + Aeroporto di Orio al Serio.
Arriving from Alessandria Sud – about 20 – 25 minutes
From the toll station at Alessandria Sud, take the right hand fork towards Acqui Terme. Continue on this road until turning right at the 2nd major exit - towards Nizza Monferrato – the S.P. 28. Continue on this road for about 15 kilometres past Carentino and past the exits to Bruno and Mombaruzzo until you reach the village of Bazzana. At the railway line in Bazzana, turn left immediately after the railway (5 metres) towards Casalotto. If you reach Bar Jolly and Malgra wine on your right hand side, you have missed the turn. Continue on this road, past the sign ‘Casalotto’, until about 100 metres before the town (and just after a road sign with the number '2'), La Villa is to your right, with a hotel sign outside and a private drive to the hotel.
Arriving from Acqui Terme and the South
From Acqui Terme follow signs to Asti and the S.S. N.456. You will pass Alice bel Colle and Castel Rocchero before passing an API petrol station on your right-hand side, immediately followed (70 metres later) by a crossroads. Take the right turn towards Fontanile and Mombaruzzo and continue on this road for about 4 minutes until Casalotto is sign-posted to the left. Take this road and continue to the top where you will come to a junction with the main road. Turn left and La Villa is 200 metres further on your left, with a tree lined drive to the hotel.
Arriving from Turin and the East
Exit the A21 motorway (autostrada) at Asti Est and initially follow signs to Acqui Terme. This will bring you onto a dual carriageway (the E74). You stay on this road for about 10km, until you see signs for Acqui Terme and Nizza Monferrato (or Nizza M/to) - the SS 456. Continue onto this road until you reach the outskirts of Nizza Monferrato - about 20 km. You will come onto a roundabout and take the first exit to the right (straight on is Nizza town centre). This will take you onto an impressive new white bridge. After the bridge, there is a roundabout at which you go straight on toward Alessandria, through a tunnel. At the roundabout after the tunnel, carry straight on towards Alessandria for about a further 7 km until you come into the village of Bazzana. Immediately in front of the railway line (5 metres before) take the right hand turn to Casalotto. Continue on this road, past the sign ‘Casalotto’, until about 100 metres before the town (and just after a road sign with the number '2'), La Villa is to your right, with a hotel sign outside and a private drive to the hotel (see the photo above!).
Arriving by Train
We can also arrange for a txi collection from any nearby rail station - Nizza Monferrato is the nearest and Asti and Alessandria (both about 30 minutes away) are both major stations on the network. Click here for train timetables.
