Arising from an old farmhouse and its surrounding farm estate—all restored with great care—is the Tenuta Chianchizza. The main structure, surrounded by olive groves, is only a few kilometers from the sea and from the many characteristic centers of Puglia. The estate (designed by architect Palma Librato) started as a typical old oil mill in southern Italy. The restaurant in particular is an authentic example of Pugliese country life. In fact, after its scrupulous restoration, you can see the large stone mill, the imposing iron presses, the old troughs and the underground wells for collecting the oil. Characteristic elements of the place are tufa and "chianche", typical local stones that contribute to the creation of an extremely charming environment.
The ancient olive oil mill, where old steel presses and crushing wheels stand in imposing evidence, now houses the elegant dining room. In this restaurant guests can enjoy traditional cooking with “revisited dishes” that pay tribute to the particular tastes of the many food products of the region. Here the Tenuta Chianchizza can also host business dinners, small celebrations, dinners with friends and candlelight suppers. The actual working farm, only a short distance from the main “masseria,” is the sight of the production of many of the products used in our kitchen by our chef in the preparation of the Tenuta’s culinary offerings. Dinner reservations are welcome. The spacious outside courtyard lends itself well to evening buffets. Next to the main courtyard, enhanced by pomegranate trees, centuries-old olive trees and large umbrellas, is a second courtyard used as relaxation area with comfortable chairs under the open sky.
The rooms, diverse in color and decor, recall the surrounding Mediterranean plants: olive trees, almond trees, cherry trees, carob, lemon trees, orange trees. All of them have a bathroom with shower, air conditioning – heating, high-speed Internet connection, television, telephone, hair dryer, mini-bar, personal hygiene necessities, furnished private porch, high-quality bedspreads and curtains, in addition to a well thought out common space surrounded by tufa walls and furnished with rocking chairs and sofas.The guest rooms are meticulously designed and decorated and appeal to even the most demanding guests. A unique and well-researched choice of natural design elements distinguishes each of the seven rooms, offering each guest a truly exclusive, elegant and restful holiday experience.

The Tenuta Chianchizza is an agriturismo unlike most "farm holiday" resorts in that it is conveniently located, has som elegant surroundings (dining terrace and large, comfortable rooms, each with large private bath and terrace), a great restaurant on site, wonderful management, and wihin minutes by highway to beaches and the usual tourist sites at Alberobello and Lecce.
