The Hotel Santa Maria is a Hotel de Charme located in a 16th century cloister completely renovated in the year 2000 maintaining the flavor of the original construction. It makes a very pleasant base in a romantic and relaxing ambience. The hotel is located in an historical area of central Rome in the heart of one of the most ancient and characteristic neighborhoods of the city, Trastevere. A true oasis of tranquility immersed in an intricate labyrinth of bright and colorful narrow streets.
From the hotel, guests can easily walk to the historical and archaeological beauties of the city. It is also possible to drive to the hotel with parking available in the courtyard, or in a garage next to the entrance of the hotel. The hotel has a one floor plan with all rooms that communicate with a monastic portico , and facing an ample and silent garden of orange-trees, flowers and Mediterranean plants, a perfect setting for enjoying breakfast in the warm and sunny roman days , or just for relaxing after a day of sightseeing .
When weather does not permit breakfast to be served in the garden, an ancient artisan’s workshop has been transformed into an elegant dining room, and it will welcome you with freshly-baked croissants, cakes, cookies , bread , as well as scrambled eggs, ham, cheese, salami, cereal, yoghurts , and assorted honey, marmalade, fruit-juice and seasonal fresh fruit. Choosing from our refined selection of Italian wines stocked in our Cellar (ranging from Vermentino di Gallura to Brunello di Montalcino ) guests can enjoy the pleasant relaxing atmosphere of the café-bar or the garden, an ideal spot for savoring a glass of excellent wine before venturing out to the picturesque and intimate alleys of Trastevere in search of a good “osteria” or one of the many fine restaurants of this most frequented dining area of old Rome.
Rooms
All rooms are at ground level , built around a courtyard and portico , each illuminated by a window which looks out at the orange trees in the garden. The rooms are very comfortable and quiet, painted with sunny colors and floral motifs. Each room is furnished with simple, but elegant oak wood furniture. They have "cotto" tile floors, and all the modern amenities: air conditioning, mini bar, safe, LCD satellite television, telephone, Wireless Internet, bath with bathtub and shower, plus hair-dryer. All the rooms are no-smoking
Double room (2 people)
Room with double bed or two single beds, with bathroom.
Triple room (3 people)
Room with double bed and single bed, or three singles beds, with bathroom.
Quadruple room (3 + 1 people)
Large room with double bed or 2 single beds and a sofa bed, that can be set as a bunk bed for 2 people; bathroom with shower. This room accommodates a family with 1 or 2 children
Junior Suite (3 + 1 people)
The Junior Suite is with 2 rooms and a bathroom in the middle. The first room is a nice and comfortable living area that can be set as a bedroom with two single beds or bunk bed; the second one is a bedroom with double bed or two single beds. This Suite will accommodate a family of up to 4 people.
The Suite Junior Mansarda (3+1 people)
This is a two-level room with a connecting staircase. At ground level, the small yet comfortable living area can be set as a bedroom with one single bed or, on request, an extra bed added as a bunk bed. The second level is a romantic room with sloping roof (mansarda); it has a double bed and bathroom. This Suite is idea for a family with 1 or 2 children. This Suite has a sloping roof, and may not be ideal for very tall people.
Suite Mansarda (4 + 1 people)
This is a new Suite with sloping roof (with 3 skylight windows) and 2 separate rooms. The first one is a large room with sofa bed, writing desk, 2 single beds, wardrobe and small toilet with sink and w.c. The second room is a bedroom with double bed, wardrobe and bathroom with bath-tub and shower. This room is a good solution for a family with 2 or 3 children. This Suite has a sloping roof, and may not be ideal for very tall people.
Suite Senior (4 + 2 people)
This is also a two-level room. The first level is a spacious room with a marvelous high wooden-beam ceiling, a double bed, a bathroom, and a living area in which can comfortably be added 2 single beds (upon request). The second level is a quaint lovely loft with two single beds. This room is ideal for a family up to 6 people.
