The Museum Quarter, Opera and Naschmarkt
This is an area of huge contrasts, ranging from the stateliness of the Opera House to the opulence of the Opernring shops to the raucous modernity of Mariahilfer Strasse. This long street is lined with cinemas and department stores, drawing shoppers not just from Vienna but from much of eastern Europe.
The Museum Quarter - boasting numerous mueums and galleries. Some museums and galleries found in the area are: 1) Academy of Fine Arts, 2) Secession Building, 3) Tobacco Musum, 4) Kaiserliches Hofmobiliemdepot, & 5) Haydn Museum.
The Naschmarkt is Vienna's liveliest market. It has many well-established shops and some of the best snack bars in Vienna. As you walk west it gradually become less formal, with flower vendors', wine producers' and farmers' stalls spilling out onto the street and offering meats, breads and on. This area in turn leads into the flea market - a chaos of makeshift stalls.
"We did enjoy our stay at Das Tyrol. It was a good location for touring the old town. The hotel facilities are very nice. The outstanding feature of this hotel, however, was the staff. The receptionist and the wait staff were definietly very engaging and very helpful."
"Just loved the hotel and what a great staff." "Location was great too, we had a balcony room facing the street that was awesome!"
