La Bergerie (Provence)

Provence including Marseille, France

This very private, centuries old property sits down a small country lane, surrounded by vineyards with 8 hectares of private grounds. It's a superb location with views stretching out to Mont Sainte Victoire. La Bergerie is indeeed aptly named as it is an old stone bergerie (country estate) positioned on the southern slopes of the Grand Luberon enjoying total peace and isolation yet just five minutes' drive from shops and amenities.

The owners rescued it from a ruin, rebuilding it with the highest quality materials with all new heating, wiring, plumbing and a pressurized hot water system, while retaining its traditional Provençal heritage with timber beams, flagstone flooring and gentle shade from an ancient Tilleul tree that keeps the rooms delightfully cool in summer. The house is now recognized as a 'Batiment Remarquable'. With no near neighbors and a brand new fenced and heated swimming pool, La Bergerie is a perfect retreat for families with children or groups. The owners, who have previous experience of restoring and renting out a stone tobacco-drying barn in the Lot region, have sought to make their new home a place to relax away from the modern world whilst still being connected to it, with comfortable beds, ensuite bathrooms, high-speed Wi-Fi internet, Free satellite UK TV, a fully equipped kitchen, BBQ and plenty of places to read a book in the sun or shade or simply enjoy the bird song.

Situated just off a cycle route and many marked walks, surrounded by vineyards and woods, with a view of the hilltop village of Grambois and the Mont Sainte Victoire and a short drive from historic villages, wineries, markets and Aix en Provence, this is the perfect place for a Provençal holiday.

The ground floor comes with a fully equipped kitchen opening to the dining terrace, an open-plan living and dining area with UK TV channels, DVD and Wi-Fi internet, and two ensuite bedrooms. On the next level up there are two more ensuite bedrooms and a utility room.

The exterior space is lovely and very private with 8 hectares of grounds amongst the vineyards, including extensive woodlands. There is a South-facing garden with shaded dining terrace and private, heated pool of 10 x 4m with sun terrace and loungers to enjoy relaxation, peace and quiet. If you fancy a game of boules, there is a large purpose-built boules court for your enjoyment.
