La Minervetta (Sorrento)

Amalfi Coast - Sorrento - Positano, Italy

“La Minervetta” originally a restaurant built in the 1950’s by Don Giovanni Cacace in a very unique position sits on the seacliff overlooking Marina Grande, just minutes away from the centre of Sorrento. Signora Adda Cacace , together with her son Marco, an interior decorator and scenographer, wishes to welcome her guests into a harmonious atmosphere, in combination with the natural wonder of the volcano Vesuvius, the Golf of Naples, and the lively “Marina Grande”, it is truly a jewel of the Sorrento Coast. The hotel opened in the spring of 2005. With a large lounge area, dining room and kitchen accessible to the guests, opening onto an exclusive terrace with spectacular views, “La Minervetta” offers all the comforts of being in a private home. With 12 Mediterranean style rooms and windows gazing down onto Marina Grande, guests will truly enjoy “living” the daily life of an antique fisherman’s village.

The unique lounge area opens onto a large panoramic terrace, where a client’s every request is fulfilled. The terrace is fully equipped with large sunbeds, sofas, chaise lounges, and umbrellas to ensure our guest's comfort and relaxation. Charmingly decorated with colorful flowers and plants the terrace is the ideal place to enjoy the spectacular view of the Gulf of Sorrento and Vesuvius. The kitchen is a very special place in the Maison. From the hand- painted Vietri tiles to the home-cooked breakfast, the kitchen area makes our guests feel like they are on holiday in a home away from home. Guests can have breakfast or cocktails on the terrace, while soaking in the breathtaking surroundings. The Maison staff is happy to take care of all guest requests:  transfer to and from all destinations, excursions, guided tours, car, scooter and boat rental, reservations for restaurants, sporting activities, laundry service, private beach, baby sitter service, massage and beauty treatments. The Maison has private parking, is completely accessible by elevator, and has both air conditioning and heating as needed throughout the open season.

Maison “La Minervetta” has 12 breathtaking rooms all overlooking the antique fisherman’s wharf Marina Grande and the Gulf of Naples. All of the rooms have large windows, many from the floor to the ceiling, providing unbelievable views of the volcano Vesuvius. Each room is unique, in its size, furnishings and colors. The colors of the rooms are inspired by those of the local fisherman boats, with vibrant turquoises, blues, oranges, and yellows; each room is special in its own way. The furniture, lamps, and various objects in each room have all been collected by the owners throughout their years of travel around the world. These objects, not only do they add to the splendor of the rooms, but many are important pieces from famous designers. The Maison’s style is modern, with warm touches of ethnic objects, libraries filled with picture books, architectural and design journals, and many vintage pieces. The hotel offers a comfortable, yet luxurious, special setting for its guests. All rooms offer the following services: air conditioning/heating, hair dryer, sound-proofing walls and doors, spacious safe, mini-fridge, laundry service, SAT TV, SKY TV, wireless internet, and direct access phone. Privat parking for guests.

Guests might visit the Museum of Tarsia Sorrentina to experience the history of Sorrentine inlaid woodworks. Nearby you can visit the Church of San Francesco, known for its medieval cloister, the public gardens in Villa Comunale, and not far from the town square, Piazza Tasso, is the Correale Museum, which offers one of the most renowned gouache Neapolitan collections.

  • The port is just a 5 minutes walk from the town centre, where hydrofoils and ferries depart all day long for Capri, Procida, Ischia, and Naples.

  • The train and bus station are also minutes away from town centre, with regular departures for the Amalfi Coast, Pompei, Vesuvius, Naples, and Vietri (a small seaside village famous for hand-painted ceramics and tiles like the ones found in the Maison.)

  • Service for reserved parking is available in the port “Marina Grande”, where our guests may enjoy a nice seafood meal on the water (parking there is normally prohibited).

  •  Service for reserved parking is also available in the port “Marina Piccola”, where our guests are supposed to take hydrofoils to Capri, Ischia, Positano, etc. This is an exclusive service that the Maison provides, due to the fact that the parking areas belong to the owners of the Maison.Service (parking there is normally prohibited).

Client Comments

"We have used your services three times over the years (for Paris, London, and now Italy) and you have never steered us wrong. All of the hotels you have recommended were great, but we really feel that we hit the jackpot with La Minervetta. Thanks so much and we look forward to working with you again in the future."
