Grand Hotel Miramare (Santa Margherita Ligure)
Cinque Terre Area, Italy
The elegance of the Grant Hotel Miramare’s white façade strikes the eye even from a considerable distance, while closer inspection reveals its sophisticated trompe l’oeils and floral decorations in the Leonardesque fresco style, a work that restored the GRAND HOTEL to its original turn of the century splendour.
The Miramare was built in 1903 by Giacomo Costa, who entrusted its management to Lina Kuoni Stoppani, widow of the founder of the famous Swiss travel agency. It was one of the first GRAND HOTELs on the Riviera, rapidly becoming a must for the international “jet set” of the time.
The Grand Hotel Miramare is in Santa Margherita Ligure, panoramically situated between Rapallo and Portofino. Easily reached by all means of transport, the MIRAMARE is the ideal base from which to explore the coast and hinterland of the Tigullio area, which includes enchanting Portofino and the natural treasures of the Nature Park and Protected Marine Area, the fascinating coastal towns on the Golfo Paradiso, and the Cinque Terre (Unesco World Heritage).
The hotel’s sea water swimming pool is open from April to October, from 9 am to 6 pm. Sunbed, umbrella, towel and a hundred other kindnesses from staff always at your service. Not to mention the mild Riviera climate.
Hospitality is a pleasure that also involves engineering surprises. A stay at the Miramare is also an opportunity to explore the gastronomic world of the Ristorante Vistamare, the attractions of the Hotel’s bars and its richly evocative interiors and outdoor space, which are also open to non-residents.
The hotel has 84 rooms, suites and junior suites, some with balconies overlooking the Golfo del Tigullio or the Mediterranean park. Pale pastel tones prevail: azure, green and pink. Recently restored stucco work and wooden flooring recreate the splendour of the original interiors. An art nouveau atmosphere enhanced by the comforts of a more contemporary lifestyle.
