Hotel Laurin (Santa Margherita Ligure)

Cinque Terre Area, Italy

Hotel Laurin, centrally located on the yacht quay, with a splendid view of the Gulf of Tigullio and the charming port of Santa Margherita, has 43 air-conditioned rooms with every modern amenity, all with sea views and most with large terraces.  Hotel Laurin's Restaurant offers local cuisitne with a charming view.

There is a large solarium with swimming pool and a Wellness area with small Gym (TecnoGym®), Turkish bath, "emotional" Shower and Cromotherapy.   There is a reserved private beach just 800 meters away.

In 1897 Gaudenzio Ciana, the first hotelier of the family, left his native Orta San Giulio in the province of Novara where he had built and owned the Belvedere Hotel, to settle in Santa Margherita. A century later, his great grandchildren continue the family's prestigious tradition created by him.

Santa Margherita Ligure

Evidence of the town’s Roman origins exists, provided by some archaeological finds made in the area, but documented events concerning Santa Margherita date from the medieval period. After becoming a fief of the Fieschi family in the 13th century it came under Genoese control and remained so until the end of the eighteenth century. On 18 July 1798, the village was still divided into two independent small villages separated by the hill: Corte, located in front of the harbour area and Pescino, on the side of the parish church facing the sea along Ghiaia beach.   The hotel is in the fantastic area of the Dolomites - of Selva Gardena.  The hotel has a great location for the town and for walking Sella Ronda.  The bus stop is right in front fo the hotel, and the main cable cabin of the Ciampinoi is only 50 meters away (150 ft).

Santa Margherita, easily reached by motorway (only 4 km away) offers: a first class tourist port, a yacht club, a sailing and diving school, boating excursions, night clubs and discotheques, an 18 hole golf course within 4 km, riding and minigolf. Genoa, just 30 km away, is home to the Cristoforo Colombo International Airport and many notable attractions, such as: the old port; the Palaces of the Dogi, the largest historical centre in Europe, which remain from the ancient Maritime Republic; and the Aquarium, the largest in Europe and the second largest in the world.

Client Comments

"The Hotel Laurin was very nice, and again we had spectacular views from our rooms. Beautiful sunsets reflecting off the water and the boats in the harbor just across the street from the hotel."
