Bellavista Impruneta (Impruneta - 10 km from Florence)

Florence, Italy

In1906 Giuseppe Becucci, born in 1884, son of an Impruneta kilnman, with his wife Giulia has the idea of opening a shop in which to sell his mother's homemade bread as well as salami and other cured meats, herrings and a variety of items (ribbons, eye-glasses, thread...). In no time Beppe succeeds in setting up a business in the center of the village, with a few tables where customers can sit down for a sandwich and a glass of wine and, if required, have a room to sleep in.

That is how Beppe and Giulia, with their four small children, give origin to Bellavista. They buy the house they live in and build the hotel with restaurant that is still there today, with its splendid terrace overlooking the Chianti countryside and the lovely village church. The years go by and so does the First World War. The whole family rallies to run the business, which has acquired reputation and prestige. The Torta Bellavista cake comes into the world as does the homemade cured meats and salamis and the Wine-cellar at Greve in Chianti where the Becucci wine is bottled.

The Hotel gives hospitality to the most distinguished personalities of those days, who come to spend their holidays at Impruneta. Beppe's children continue to run the business, that by this time has added to the hotel-restaurant, the grocer's and the bakery, also the Salumificio Becucci cured meats factory, whose products are even sold abroad. The family runs all these activities successfully. One of the events of those years is the hoteliers world congress in 1929, held at Impruneta, with a dinner managed precisely by Bellavista.

The buildings are badly damaged by the bombings of 1944, but the family is able to rebuild Bellavista and, some decades later, to place it in the hands of another Beppe, born in 1945 and grandson of his namesake, who today, with the help of his wife Roberta and his children Matteo, Tommaso and Martina, has committed himself to continue the old-fashioned style of hospitality.

Thanks to its central position in Tuscany, Bellavista is the ideal place where to stay to visit Florence and the most enchanting spots of the region (such as Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, Lucca, Pisa, Arezzo, etc.) which can be reached in one hour drive at the most, either by car or by bus (one bus every 30 minutes during the day).

Hotel Restaurant Bellavista Impruneta is located just 10 Km from Florence, nestled among the vineyards and olive groves of Tuscany. Its terrace overlooks one hand on the central square of the village, and the other on the beautiful hills of Chianti.
