This is the suite where conventions have been challenged, reinterpreting the tradition of the coffered ceiling via the conceptual art of Sol Lewitt and proposing a large open “conversational” bathroom. Suita Gisla Art and Music. In the 12th century, Gisla Ricasoli devoted herself to supporting various monastic centres in the area, which played an important role in spreading the culture of the time. Large suite facing the city side measures 86 m2 with vaulted ceiling decorated with 18th century frescoes and stuccowork. Suite Ugo Arno River and Gold. In this bedroom, it’s wonderful to fall asleep looking at the unusual details of this wooden ceiling, an austere construction softened by an unexpected floral decoration with charming gilded highlights making it unique. Cardinal Ugo Ricasoli, who lived in the 12th century, was a trusted counselor to Pope Alexander III, for whom he was a mediator in the historic peace negotiations signed in Venice between the Pope and the Emperor Frederick Barbarossa. Large suite with amazing View over the Arno and over Piazza Goldoni measures 80 sqm arranged on two levels. The sitting room is on the lower floor, with spacious entrance hall and cloakroom. Suite Geremia Coup de Théâtre. The red curtains and the gilded antique pelmets transform the large windows into theatre wings which reveal, as in a coup de théâtre, the delightful view over the river Arno. Geremia d’Ildebrando, who lived around the year one thousand, was the Lombard founder of our family. He was the father of Ridolfo, from whom the descendants acquired the family name of “de filiis Rodulphi”, or Firidolfi. This suite measures 75 sqm and is arranged on two levels with view over the Arno. A raised sitting room separates the double bedroom from the living room and offers a view of the river. Suite Giovan Battista The Secret Room. What is fascinating about this room is the reserve it expresses: a secluded intimate suite, despite its size. And the particularly charming glimpse of the river gives it an even greater feeling of secrecy. Giovan Battista Ricasoli was a bishop and an able diplomat. In the 16thcentury he was counsellor to the Duke of Florence Cosimo I de’ Medici and ambassador of the Medicis in Paris, Madrid and Rome. Suite Giuliana Strength and Equilibrium. Illuminated by the light of the Arno, the resolute benevolent gaze of Giuliana Ricasoli dominates and illuminates the room. The same harmony is reflected in the furnishings, a deliberate juxtaposition of ancient and modern studied elegance. A leading light of the Ricasoli family, Baroness Giuliana lived between the end of the 19th and the middle of the 20th century. A very determined woman, she is often remembered as a great benefactress, in particular of the Red Cross, to whom she granted use of the Palazzo during the First World War. Suite Pandolfo The Warrior’s Rest. In his impressive armour, the image of Pandolfo Ricasoli looks down from the walls of this suite, in which we have created a surprising bold marble-decorated trompe l’oeil to separate the sitting room from the bedroom. In the 16th century Pandolfo Ricasoli was a Colonel for the military leader Gian Giacomo Medici, brother of the future Pope Pius IV, alongside whom he contributed to the victory of Florence over Siena, its age-old rival. Spacious suite measuring 65 sqm, with a particularly large walk-in wardrobe. It has a double bedroom with en suite bathroom, provided with large high shower, for a cascade effect. Suite Orazio Educated and Elegant. In this suite the antique bookcase, a reminder of the literary genius of Orazio Ricasoli, whom it is named after. Tradition is gently opposed the bold contemporary atmosphere of the daring design of the walk-in wardrobe and the bright cheerful bathroom. One of the most important Florentine intellectuals of the 17th century, Orazio Ricasoli was a man of letters and philosopher close to Galileo Galilei, whose astronomical theories he backed and spread.
