Metropole Hotel
Venice, Italy
The Metropole Hotel is situated along Riva degli Schiavoni, next to Chiesa della Pietà church and just a few steps away from Piazza San Marco, the Giardini della Biennale gardens and the city’s major tourist attractions. The place that is now the Hotel Metropole, has a long historical background. A painting by De Barbari dating back to 1500 documents the existence of a building corresponding to that of the Hotel. In that period the long area of the Riva degli Schiavoni, anciently named "della Pietà", accommodated one of the major orphanages of Venice, a place of assistance reserved for orphanages of Venice, a place of assistance reserved for orphans and women. Towards the end of the XVII century, the Metropole palace became enriched by a small church where Antonio Vivaldi (1678 - 1741) usually gave lessons to the young girls, who were staying in the orphanage. It was really between 1703 and 1740 that the master composed some of his most celebrated masterpieces: L'Estro Armonico op. III, concerts and Four Seasons "Quattro stagioni".
A Venetian soul with an Oriental twist
An intense ambience with candlelit spaces and scents of black pepper permeates Metropole, a hotel that escapes traditional luxury clichés and expresses its personality through an eclectic décor, old mirrors, rugs from the Far East, red velvets and antique collections. Indulge in the beauty of our exotic garden, perfect for summer breakfasts and aperitifs, treat yourself to our Spa, decorated in gold leaf and with large Fortuny-style chandeliers, and discover our rooms and Suites, each with its own distinctive charm and breathtaking views.
